Time is ticking for the new Facebook Timeline…

On 30th March, Facebook will be changing all page -  business and personal to their new Timeline format…currently the format is still optional but come the end of this week all pages will change by default!

But panic not! Here are a few pointers to consider when you are changing…

The need to knows of timeline:
The ‘cover’ image – which is the top large image is 850×315 pixels – a nice large banner space to show off your products and services but please be mindful of the Facebook restrictions:

How should I choose a cover photo for my Page?
Use a unique image that represents your Page. This might be a photo of a popular menu item, album artwork or a picture of people using your product. Be creative and experiment with images your audience responds well to.
Cover images must be at least 399 pixels wide and may not contain:
Price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website”
Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About section
References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features
Calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends”
All cover images are public, which means anyone visiting your Page will be able to see the image you choose. Covers must not be false, deceptive or misleading, and must not infringe on third parties’ intellectual property. You may not encourage or incentivize people to upload your cover image to their personal timelines
So, this all means nice pretty pics showing a selection of your finest work but with no offers or even contact details – which, for a business page seems a little odd but there we have it.
There is also a smaller square image found btm left of the new format which is your profile image. As before, this is the image that will appear when you add posts and how others will see you on their walls… so it makes sense that this image should feature your logo.

Colourwheel is offering these images for only £15…. But there are limited spaces so get in contact asap if you are interested… after Fri 30th March the cost for us to create these images is £35.

This is my new timeline image... I have designed it so that I can change the wallpaper on a regular basis to keep the page looking fresh and I can update the image gallery to show off my latest work..

Along with the new timeline format you can also change the tab images, eg: welcome etc…this will give your page a lovely branded look  - editable tab images are 111×74 pixels and to be honest need a little playing around with to get right.

To edit the tabs go to edit page, click on apps – pick the app you require. Then go into edit settings and you will see a box that gives you the option to change image and name.

As with all changes the new Timeline format will take a wee while to get used to  but it definitely gives the pages a more branded/website look...let me know what you think…
